O'Gara Armoring Wins $60.7M Contract to Produce FMTV Armor Kits

O’Gara-Hess & Eisenhardt Armoring Company (O’Gara Armoring) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a five-year, $60.7M contract to manufacture armor kits for the US Army’s Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV). The kits are designed to add additional protection to soldiers from side and underbody blast and ballistic threats.

This contract supports the US Army’s Tactical Wheeled Vehicle Strategy protection objectives. O’Gara Armoring has a long and proud history of providing armor protection to the US Military and other US Government Agencies. The Fairfield, Ohio site has armored thousands of Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles, High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV), and other military platforms, including the FMTV.

“We designed and manufactured the first armor kits for the FMTV in the mid-2000s,” said O’Gara Armoring’s GM, Mike Reynolds. “And now, we’re excited to build on that success and experience by producing the FMTV Protection Kit. This contract and our recent contract award with the US Army’s Picatinny Arsenal’s turret systems and integration kits, reasserts O’Gara Armoring as a leading provider of armored solutions for the US Military’s tactical wheeled vehicle fleet.”

O’Gara Armoring expects to begin production by late summer of this year.

Located in Fairfield, Ohio, O’Gara Armoring designs, fabricates, and integrates armored products to meet various protection requirements on military and commercial platforms. The company traces its lineage to coachbuilders from the 1870s. It transitioned to armored vehicles in the 1950s, starting with the Presidential limousine for President Harry S. Truman.
